Jai Raj Ispat Limited planted 210 saplings at its Kurnool manufacturing facility on World Environment Day and said it plans to plant another 1,227 saplings over the next two to three weeks.

The plantation drive was carried out after the company participated in a World Environment Day rally organised by the Andhra Pradesh government in Kurnool. The rally focused on environmental protection, climate action and sustainable practices.

The company said the upcoming plantation activities will be undertaken as part of an Environment Month programme being observed during June.

Siddharth Jain, Executive Director of Jai Raj Ispat Limited, said the plantation drive was intended to support environmental conservation efforts. Rajshree Jain, Director of the company, said the initiative aimed to promote awareness of environmental issues and encourage community participation.

The company said the tree plantation programme forms part of its environmental activities. It did not disclose the species of saplings planted or provide estimates of the environmental impact expected from the initiative.

Headquartered in Hyderabad, Jai Raj Ispat Limited manufactures TMT bars, billets, sponge iron, pig iron and MS rounds. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Kurnool, Jeedimetla and Bellary.

According to the company, its Kurnool plant covers 432 acres and uses a blast furnace-electric oxygen furnace-ladle refining furnace production process. The company said renewable energy and waste heat recovery systems are used in its manufacturing operations.

World Environment Day is observed annually on June 5 and is led by the United Nations Environment Programme. The occasion is marked globally through activities focused on environmental awareness and conservation.
