Lotus Petal Launches Live Online Learning Programme for Students

Lotus Petal Foundation has launched "Teach Live", a live online remedial learning programme aimed at providing additional academic support to children who require assistance beyond regular classroom instruction. The initiative is currently being implemented in a pilot phase across Haryana and Delhi, reaching 30 students in Grades 3 to 8.

According to the foundation, the programme is initiated to help fill in any gaps in learning that learners may be having while enrolled in schools but find it difficult to keep up with grade-level education. The programme will help facilitate learning in online classes after school hours.

It aims to provide supplementary academic help to children coming from underprivileged backgrounds where they do not get educational assistance at home. With the help of live classes, the children can be helped to build up basic learning abilities and enhance their educational experience.

The launch comes amid concerns about learning challenges within India's education system. A recent NITI Aayog report highlighted issues including more than one million teacher vacancies, high pupil-teacher ratios in some regions, and over one lakh schools being operated by a single teacher. While school enrolment levels remain high, learning outcomes continue to be an area of concern.

"Being present in a classroom does not automatically translate into learning. Many children need additional support, encouragement, and explanation to truly understand concepts. By leveraging technology and dedicated educators, the initiative aims to reach children across India and help them overcome barriers to learning. Lotus Petal Foundation invites individuals, institutions, and organisations to support the Teach Live initiative and join the mission of creating equitable learning opportunities for every child. Teach Live was created to ensure that every child has access to a teacher who can guide them, regardless of their circumstances," said Kushal Raj Chakravorty, Founder and Managing Trustee, Lotus Petal Foundation.

In contrast to taped lessons or self-learning programs, Teach Live is built on the concept of live interactions among teachers and students. Through the program, teachers can recognize knowledge gaps among the learners, answer student queries, and give tailored assistance.

The foundation said the programme is expected to expand to additional regions in the future as efforts continue to improve access to supplementary education for children who need additional learning support.
