Major ports are currently establishing a 2023 carbon emission baseline, with a goal to measure CO2 reduction per ton of cargo. Over the past five years, efforts have included electrifying port equipment, enabling ship-to-shore power for port crafts, and boosting renewable energy through solar and wind power generation.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal shared this update during a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
