NETRA Launches 9 Global Councils to Fast-Track Net-Zero Technologies

The NetZero Energy Transition Association (NETRA), a new not-for-profit international industry platform, has launched nine focused councils to drive the global commercialisation and scaling of net-zero technology. Launched on Earth Day 2025, NETRA brings together clean energy, industry, and mobility players to drive accelerated rollout of technology and global collaboration towards a net-zero world.

Even weeks after its inauguration, NETRA has drawn in increasing numbers of strategic international partners such as the United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) Earth Day Network, Green Hydrogen Organisation, Norway India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI), LDES Council, Electrochemical Safety Research Institute (ESRI), UL Research Institute, Microgrid Australia, LIASE Group, and Epsilon Advanced Materials. The partnership will fill the gap between early innovations and actual commercial application through organized collaboration.

The firm has initiated nine councils to address priority areas that are needed for scaling up clean tech across industries. They include the Advanced Battery Council, focusing on innovation in battery technology and manufacturing processes; the Clean Industry Transition Council, focused on decarbonizing steel and cement sectors; and the Cleantech Investment Council, with the goal of attracting smart capital and decreasing risk in deep tech startups.

There are also additional boards such as the Grid+ Council to enhance grid resilience and digital infrastructure; the Global Policy & Standards Council to standardize the global regulatory environment; and the Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Circular Economy Council to develop sustainable and circular production systems. The RD&D Council is advised to close the gap between laboratory innovation and deployment on the field, while the Sustainable Mobility Council would be tasked with speeding up electrification on land, air, and sea. Finally, the Workforce & Skills Development Council will attend to developing an able workforce for clean energy transitions.

Each council will meet regularly in the form of formal weekly meetings, exchange sectoral world roadmaps, policy, and case studies. The councils will also work together to coordinate pilot projects, tech-validation programs, and facilitate international cooperation on investment pipelines and partnerships.

NETRA will also host thematic member forums to discuss new challenges and opportunities within the net-zero realm. These range from sessions on international battery production, scale-up safety standards for technology, investment channels to net-zero innovation, decarbonisation models of industry and demand clustering, and start-ups in the emerging economies.

The portal will function as an interactive platform that brings together industry, academia, investors, and governments to deal with underlying technology adoption and sustainability concerns. Through cross-border, cross-sectoral dialogue and action facilitation, NETRA aims for systemic change to enable the achievement of global climate aspirations.
