The company installed solar power systems at seven dealerships across India, powering all showroom and workshop operations with renewable energy. Nissan Motor India has implemented grid-based solar electricity systems at seven dealerships: Acuity Nissan in Baroda, Aarav Nissan in Mehsana, three EVM Nissan dealerships in Kerala, Dada Nissan in Jalandhar, and Roshan Nissan in Jaipur. These systems generate enough power to fully operate the dealerships’ showrooms and workshops. Excess energy is fed back into the power grid, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering operational costs. This move marks a significant step toward cleaner dealership operations, as solar power replaces conventional energy sources entirely at these locations. The initiative is part of Nissan’s broader strategy to integrate renewable energy into its operations, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

In addition to solar power, Nissan organized a nationwide tree-planting activity on June 5, 2025, involving all its dealerships and workshops. Customers were invited to participate by planting saplings, each tagged with their name and vehicle number to symbolize their contribution to environmental conservation. Participants received a Green Service Certificate and seed packets to encourage further planting at home. This program aims to foster community engagement in environmental efforts and increase green cover across India. By involving customers directly, Nissan strengthens its brand connection while promoting sustainable practices at the grassroots level.

Nissan also reduced plastic packaging by 15% across its operations, addressing the growing issue of plastic waste. This reduction applies to materials used in vehicle delivery and servicing, minimizing environmental impact. The CNG option offers improved fuel efficiency while maintaining vehicle performance, appealing to environmentally conscious consumers. In the first phase, the retrofitment kit is available in seven states: Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. Nissan plans to expand availability based on demand, further promoting cleaner fuel options in India’s automotive market.

Nissan’s sustainability efforts coincide with strong business performance in India. For the financial year 2024-25, the company reported sales of over 99,000 units, its best annual performance in seven years. The New Nissan Magnite, a compact SUV, drove domestic sales with over 28,000 units sold annually. Additionally, Nissan expanded its export operations from 20 to over 65 international markets, achieving record export sales of 71,000 units. This growth establishes India as a critical export hub for Nissan, with the Magnite playing a central role in its global strategy. The combination of sustainability initiatives and robust sales underscores Nissan’s ability to balance environmental responsibility with business growth.
