Due to heavy rainfall in the city, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert on Thursday. Cloudy skies accompanied by light to heavy showers are likely to be experienced by the residents. Along with that, speedy winds will blow in some areas in Delhi, ranging between 30 and 50 kilometers per hour. A red alert is considered a high alert, which is a sign of heavy rainfall. This can lead to floods in the city and hurdles in emergency cases. Although these weather conditions have brought relief from the humid heat. The maximum temperature may be around 36°C and the minimum temperature around 24°C.

Waterlogging in Delhi-NCR

On Wednesday, a heavy shower was witnessed in the city, due to which the problem of waterlogging has been reported. Waterlogging and traffic jams were reported in several key areas such as Nehru Place, Aurobindo Marg, Kailash Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Siri Fort Road, Chirag Delhi Flyover, Outer Ring Road, GK Marg, Rail Bhawan, Akshardham, Ashram, ITO, Pul Prahladpur, MB Road, MG Road, Old Rohtak Road, Shadipur, Madhuban Chowk, and NH-8.

Alert Issued by IMD before heavy rainfall

IMD issued a red alert on Wednesday morning. Earlier, it was a yellow alert, which means light to very light rainfall might be witnessed. During the daytime, an orange alert was issued by the weather department only for a limited area, but by the evening, a red alert was issued for the entire city. Just after the alert, heavy rainfall started. The areas that were most affected are Nehru Place, Aurobindo Marg, Kailash Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Siri Fort Road, Chirag Delhi Flyover, Outer Ring Road, GK Marg, Rail Bhawan, Akshardham, Ashram, ITO, Pul Prahladpur, MB Road, MG Road, Old Rohtak Road, Shadipur, and Madhuban Chowk.

What Will Today’s Weather Be Like?

IMD Issues Red Alert The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the day. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to be experienced in Delhi-NCR. The sky will remain cloudy, and strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are likely to be experienced. During heavy rainfall, wind speeds may reach up to 50 kilometers per hour.
