Recyclekaro secures govt scheme support, plans ₹300 crore expansion to boost critical mineral recovery in India.
In a major step for India’s sustainability goals, Recyclekaro, a top e-waste and lithium-ion battery recycling company, has qualified for the Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Critical Mineral Recycling. This scheme, launched by the Ministry of Mines under the National Critical Minerals Mission, aims to strengthen local recycling efforts and decrease dependence on imported resources. This achievement places Recyclekaro at the forefront of India's growing circular economy, particularly in the vital area of critical minerals.
This news comes at a time when global demand for strategic resources like lithium and rare earth elements is rising. As part of this initiative, Recyclekaro has pledged an investment of around ₹300 crore to expand its critical mineral recycling operations. This expansion will boost the company’s total processing capacity to about 50,000 metric tonnes, representing a significant increase in scale. The project is classified as a brownfield expansion under Beneficiary Category Group A, emphasizing its goal of upgrading and enhancing existing facilities.
The expansion will allow the company to recover valuable materials from various waste sources, including used lithium-ion batteries, electronic circuit e-waste, rare earth magnets, and spent catalytic converters. By utilizing these sources, Recyclekaro aims to significantly improve the domestic supply of critical minerals, which currently relies heavily on imports.

He noted that the company has spent over 15 years developing its own technologies and carrying out extensive pilot-scale tests to create a solid recycling framework.
Looking forward, the company plans to invest more than ₹500 crore in the next five years to build a new research and development facility. This center is expected to be one of the largest privately owned sites in India focusing on rare earth and critical mineral recovery. Gupta also invited researchers, innovators, and technology partners to collaborate on advancing India’s clean energy and circular economy efforts.
