Real estate developer Sobha Realty has appointed Ram Vaidyanathan as its new Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) in a bid to further strengthen its sustainable urban development initiatives.

Vaidyanathan announced the move on LinkedIn, saying, "I'm excited to share that I've started a new chapter as the Chief Sustainability Officer at Sobha Realty after 7 incredible years at Godrej. I am incredibly appreciative of the friends, coworkers, and mentors who have influenced my path thus far. I am excited to contribute to Sobha's ambitious sustainability agenda and am looking forward to this next stage of growth."

Before starting his seven-year tenure with the Godrej Industries Group as its Director and Head of Environmental Sustainability, Vaidyanathan was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WiSH Energy Solutions, a specialised renewable energy subsidiary of the Enzen Group. He was responsible for the overall business strategy and development in this role.

Key energy optimisation projects undertaken at Enzen included major utilities in the United Kingdom. He has also contributed to a diverse range of career paths, such as developing a holistic environmental management system for PI Industries Ltd at its main manufacturing plant in Gujarat. Furthermore, he has a long history of international experience in the sector, such as the development of stringent policy and drinking water regulation in the National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore and the development and deployment of advanced water treatment technologies. His responsibilities at Sobha Realty will expand to several important aspects: Decarbonisation: Reduction of operational carbon & embodied carbon in luxury high-rise and community developments.
