Sunkonnect Announces Plan to Support 2 GW of Solar Projects in India by 2030

Renewable energy consulting firm Sunkonnect has announced plans to support the deployment of more than 2 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity across India by 2030 through its distributed energy platform, Sunsol Cleantech.

The company said it intends to undertake 5,000 projects, including rooftop, captive, open-access and utility-scale solar installations. The projects are expected to serve commercial, industrial and residential consumers.

The announcement comes as India continues to expand its renewable energy capacity. According to government data cited by the company, non-fossil fuel sources accounted for more than 50% of the country's installed electricity capacity as of April 2026. India's installed solar capacity has also increased from 2.8 GW in 2014 to about 150 GW.

Sunkonnect said the planned projects are intended to contribute to the government's target of achieving 280 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030.

Nitish Kumar, Managing Director of Sunsol Cleantech, said the company plans to support more than 2 GW of solar deployment by 2030 and will focus on project execution and operational standards.

Sunsol Cleantech is the project delivery arm of Singapore-based Sunkonnect. The company said it has completed more than 5 GW of renewable energy projects since 2019 in partnership with over 20 organisations across India, China, Vietnam and Malaysia.

According to the company, its services include engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), project management, engineering design, technical audits, quality assurance and asset management. The platform also provides digital monitoring for solar projects.

Sunkonnect said the projects will be implemented in urban and rural areas and will cater to corporate clients, renewable energy developers, independent power producers and infrastructure investors.

India has set a target of expanding renewable energy generation over the coming years, with solar power expected to remain one of the key sources of new electricity capacity. The company said its planned projects will be carried out over the next four years as part of that broader expansion.
