Websol Energy’s BRSR FY25 highlights its commitment to clean energy manufacturing, resource efficiency, employee well-being, and responsible governance.
Websol Energy System, produce solar modules and cells, has showcased its strong dedication to be sustainable and future oriented in its BRSR FY 2024-25. In the report company has highlighted its four major areas it is focused which includes renewable energy production, energy efficiency, waste management, and employee wellness. It means, it is focusing on clean energy manufacturing while reducing energy use.
By initiatives like the upgradation of its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), recycling of AHU drain water, and recycling reject water of RO and CEDI units, Websol has minimized freshwater dependence while enhancing overall operational sustainability. During FY 2024-25, the company posted total energy consumption of 27,081 MWh (predominantly non-renewable) with an energy intensity of 0.0047 GJ/₹ turnover, which is better than the earlier year.
On the environmental side, the company's Scope 1 emissions were 35.75 tonnes of CO₂ and Scope 2 emissions were at 19,656 tonnes of CO₂, resulting in a combined emissions intensity of 0.00000342 tCO₂e/₹ turnover, which was drastically lower compared to the previous year. Water intake increased to 162,438 KL due to increased expansion, but intensity remained optimized at 0.0000282 KL/₹ turnover, with more than 111,700 KL wastewater treated through ETP.
Waste generation throughout the year amounted to 95.16 MT, majorly used oil and battery waste, while 2 MT plastics were recycled under its EPR system. Disposal of hazardous waste was carried out through approved state vendors to maintain regulatory compliance. Air emissions were captured as NOx 2.71 MT, SOx 2.71 MT, PM 6,967 kg, and HAP 10,194 kg.
Socially, the company had 420 employees, among them women being 4.3% of the workforce and 42.8% of the board members. 100% of the employees are provided with health insurance, gratuity, PF, and maternity benefits, and there are zero lost-time accidents and complete adherence to ISO 45001 norms. Well-being spends on employees increased to 44.35 lakh, including training, safety instruments, and health facilities.
Websol also provided robust community programs, such as free medical camps, educational assistance, and medical equipment, to more than 900 underprivileged people in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. Its CSR expenditure for the year was ₹5.63 lakh.
Governance is strong with complete adherence to all 9 NGRBC principles, no corruption and human rights issues, and implementation of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and BIS certifications. Goals include carbon neutrality by 2035, 25 to 30% GHG cut by 2029, and 25% decrease in water usage by 2029, along with diversity targets of 10% female workforce by 2030.
The Chairman's note emphasizes "solar fuelling India's future with responsibility and resilience", reinforcing the company's position as a clean energy enabler.
