Daimler India Switches to Green: 16 MW Clean Energy Deal with Zelestra
Zelestra partners with DICV to supply 16.2 MW of renewable energy for DICV’s Oragadam facility near Chennai. This is part of Zelestra's broader expansion of its renewable energy projects in India, which includes a 149 MW hybrid wind and solar project in Tamil Nadu.

Spanish firm Zelestra, which is in the renewable power sector, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) to buy 16.2 MW of green power from its hybrid wind and solar power plant in the state of Tamil Nadu. Zelestra is constructing a 149 MW hybrid power plant on the outskirts of Chennai, where solar energy and wind energy would be utilized in combination to generate green power. The power will be utilized for DICV's Oragadam campus on the outskirts of Chennai, where the company produces commercial vehicles and luxury coaches under BharatBenz and trucks under Daimler brands FUSO, Mercedes-Benz, and Freightliner.
The transaction is a watershed deal for Zelestra, which has been constructing its portfolio of renewable energy in India. With a pipeline of 5 GW of projects for renewable power, Zelestra has pre-committed on 2.8 GW of capacity, whereas the remaining projects are contracted step-wise till 2026. Zelestra has 28 GW of low-carbon development projects in 13 nations and intends to develop, commercialize, construct, and operate renewable energy megawatt-scale solutions.
This agreement with DICV also increases the depth of Zelestra in India's growing renewable energy sector, providing an engineered energy solution that is geared towards the specific needs of industrial processes.
