On Tuesday morning residents saw heavy rainfall in Delhi. With light rains and fresh air prevailing, people welcomed this weather as they had been experiencing very hot and humid weather over the past few days. There was much needed relief from heat as the temperature dropped to 25.8 degree Celsius. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted similar weather conditions for the next three days with intermittent rains and thundershowers.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there would be cloudy weather conditions prevailing along with light to moderate rains until Friday. Thunderstorms and heavy rains is likely in some parts of Delhi, however, the temperature would remain below average. Day temperature is predicted to be between 32°C to 33°C and the night temperature between 25-26°C.

The rainfall has not only made the weather cooler but has also improved Delhi’s air quality. According to the latest Air Quality Index (AQI), currently the air quality index of Delhi is 69, this comes under 'Satisfactory' category. This means the air quality is better this season compared to previous years because of persistent rain and strong winds, which helps in wash away dust and other pollutants. The AQI is expected to stay satisfactory to moderate as long as the rains persist. Weather department has advised people to stay alert and prepare themselves for cases of waterlogging in areas with low elevation and traffic due to heavy rainfall.

According to IMD, rains will persist till the weekend as weather will be mostly cloudy along with some light rains on Saturday and Sunday as well. There is no alert for Delhi in terms of weather but other cities around Delhi such as Gurugram and Ghaziabad have an alert for heavy rains.

People have been advised to stay weather alert and avoid traveling amid heavy rains. The monsoon season will bring comfortable weather to the capital city while also bringing relief from the hot and humid climate in the city.
