Gruner Renewable Energy Enters Agritech with Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd. to Address Farm Waste and Enhance Productivity

Gruner Renewable Energy has entered the agritech industry with the establishment of Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd. (KUPL) with an initial investment of USD 1 million. The firm's new venture will be committed to solving some of the most critical challenges of the agri sector, the focus area being effective recycling of agricultural residues and maximum productivity. The venture will also seek to implement technology-based solutions to increase efficiency in farming operations and raise overall sustainability of Indian agriculture.

India also has the gigantic challenge of eliminating agricultural waste, which is around 620 million metric tonnes per year. Sadly, only 25-30% of the waste is being used for fodder or energy generation purposes. Stubble burning is one of the biggest environmental challenges in the context of agricultural waste, which makes a major contribution to air pollution and environmental deterioration. Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd. aims to solve these problems by providing effective waste management services, as well as by facilitating the farmers and encouraging sustainable practices.

The mission of KUPL is to utilize technology and data-driven products to increase productivity and make services accessible to farmers. The company initiatives also align with the overall Indian government focus on raising agricultural productivity and sustainability, as underscored in the Union Budget 2025-26, which focused considerable resources on agriculture and farmer welfare schemes. Gruner Renewable Energy is also charting ambitious targets for Kisani Urjaa, envisioning a revenue target of USD 15 million in 2025-26 with a vision to meaningfully contribute to the Indian agritech ecosystem.

Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd. founding is an example of a surge movement in India's agricultural sector with technology adoption being an important aspect to solve chronic pains like waste management and poor productivity for some areas. Through the emphasis on agro-waste and efficiency, KUPL aims to influence positively the state of the environment and the livelihood of farmers in the country. This step is towards an agritech revolution in India, with innovation and sustainability mixed together.
