Haryana is set to introduce an online vehicle scrapping portal while accelerating EV infrastructure, AI-driven air quality management and clean mobility initiatives across the state.

Haryana to Launch Online Portal for Scientific Scrapping of End-of-Life Vehicles

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday directed officials to develop an online portal for registering and scientifically disposing of end-of-life vehicles, which would simplify the scrapping process and provide transparency.

While chairing the second board meeting of the Artificial Intelligence for Resilient Jobs, Urban Air Quality and Next Generation Skills Council (ARJUN SPV), Saini said the state should make maximum use of modern technology to promote clean air, green transport and sustainable development.

The proposed portal will provide a more efficient and transparent system for citizens to register their private vehicles and obsolete government vehicles for online scrapping.

Saini also discussed the roadmap for clean air, electric mobility, industrial pollution control and crop residue management under the Haryana Clean Air Project for Sustainable Development (HCAPSD) with officials from various departments, highlighting the timelines for their completion.

He urged officials to speed up the deployment of EV charging stations across the state and reviewed plans to establish 100 charging stations under the state's Electric Vehicle Policy. The meeting also covered the expansion of electric bus services in Gurugram and Faridabad, where the government is planning to roll out 200 electric buses under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, in addition to the work underway for the deployment of electric buses in Sonipat.

The board also discussed AI-based measures for air quality management, including the preparation of a state emission inventory, the development of an AI-based decision support system, strengthening the continuous monitoring of ambient air quality, and improving data sharing between departments.

Saini emphasised the need to monitor the projects effectively, manage finances, create public awareness, and ensure grievance redressal to ensure that all projects under the clean air and green mobility agenda are implemented in a timely manner.
