How Google's Deal with Varaha Works to Combat Climate Change
Now Google is looking at entering into one of its biggest deals with a Carbon removal Initiative named Varaha which has reportedly agreed to purchase 100,000 tons carbon credits by the end of the 2030 decade. Purchase marked for Google: its entry to carbon dioxide removal business in India that is part of one the worlds largest Biochar-based Carbon Credit Deal made thus far. Varaha is turning agricultural waste from the agricultural field into charcoal-like biochar that holds sequestered carbon dioxide deep into the soil, which makes biochar healthy to enhance growth with a decrease in invasive species-Prosopis Juliflora impact. Biomass of Prosopis Juliflora would be procured from Gujarat and prepared in biochar, which is planned using a dedicated pyrolysis facility.
