India To Host First International Big Cat Alliance Summit In June 2026

India will host the inaugural International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit in New Delhi from June 1 to 2, 2026, with involvement anticipated by member and observer nations whose focus revolves around wildlife conservation.

The launch of the website and logo of the upcoming summit was done by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi on Tuesday. Representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Ministry of External Affairs, IBCA, and representatives of big cat range nations were present at the function.

As per the government, more than 400 delegates are expected to attend the summit, comprising conservationists, scientists, policymakers, financial institutions, and representatives from local communities.

The IBCA is an inter-governmental organization based in India working for the conservation of seven big cat species, which include the lion, tiger, leopard, snow leopard, cheetah, jaguar, and puma.

At the launching ceremony, Yadav added that the conference will emphasise international cooperation and coordination among the nations that are habitats for large felines. Conservation work requires collaboration, information exchange, and coordinated efforts.

The summit will take place under the banner, “Save Big Cats, Save Humanity, Save Ecosystem”. The discussions will be centered around issues regarding biodiversity preservation, wildlife habitat management, and climate-related ecosystem challenges.

One of the anticipated outputs of the summit, according to the government, will be the “Delhi Declaration” – a document intended to determine common priorities in relation to big cat preservation and cooperation among the countries attending.

Parallel technical sessions will be arranged during the summit in which officials, experts, and organizations from 95 big cat range countries will participate. In addition, an exhibition on tribal art, wildlife photography, documentaries, and virtual reality presentations concerning biodiversity and conservation issues will also be arranged.

According to the ministry, the summit website will serve as the official platform for information sharing and public outreach related to the event. The summit logo includes depictions of the seven big cat species within a lotus-inspired design representing the five elements of nature.
