Loom Solar has received new land in Uttar Pradesh to expand its solar manufacturing capacity and support growing clean energy demand.
Loom Solar has secured an additional land allotment from the Government of Uttar Pradesh to expand its manufacturing operations. The company has been allotted a 33,400 square metre which is approximately 8.25 acres plot at the Industrial Model Land Corporation (IMLC) in Meerut.
The allotment was formalised at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow in the presence of Yogi Adityanath and Industrial Minister Nand Gopal ‘Nandi’ Gupta.
The new land parcel is separate from the company’s existing 7.5-acre facility in Kosi, Uttar Pradesh, where a 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing unit is currently under development. With the addition of the Meerut site, Loom Solar is expanding its manufacturing footprint in the state.
The Meerut facility is expected to focus on solar module production and will complement the capacity being developed at Kosi. Both units will operate independently and are intended to support increasing demand for solar equipment in India, in line with the country’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Amod Anand, Co-Founder and Director, Loom Solar, said,
"India's energy independence will be built in factories, aligned to its policies and resolve. This land allotment by the Government of Uttar Pradesh strengthens our manufacturing backbone across both solar modules and BESS solutions. Alongside the 1.2 GW Kosi plant, it gives Loom Solar the infrastructure to meet India's multi-GW demand trajectory with fully indigenous capacity."
Such an expansion comes in line with various national-level programs that seek to promote the growth of indigenous manufacturing, among which the Production Linked Incentive (PLI), Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM), and Domestic Content Requirements (DCR) stand out. The purpose of all such programs is to reduce dependence on the imports of the solar component parts.
Apart from the development of solar panels, the company is involved in the scaling up of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The dual-facility setup in Kosi and Meerut is expected to contribute to employment generation across manufacturing, engineering, and related sectors, while also reflecting growing industrial activity in Uttar Pradesh.
