Pernod Ricard India said its sustainability programmes reached over 500,000 people across India, with initiatives focused on water stewardship, climate-resilient agriculture, renewable energy and circularity.
Pernod Ricard India shared news about their sustainability efforts on World Environment Day. Their initiatives have benefited over half a million folks in 13 states and three union territories. These programs cover water conservation, farming, renewable energy, and rural jobs.
The company's Water, Agriculture, and Livelihoods program now aids 22,430 farmers in areas that really need water. By using smarter farming and irrigation techniques, these farmers see a 15-20% boost in harvests and reduced costs by 18-22%.
Moreover, Pernod Ricard claims they've restored over three times the water used in their operations through projects that refill groundwater. Starting in 2019, they've constructed 2,410 structures for recharging groundwater, which collectively can top up more than 3,339 million liters of water. So, they're clearly making a real impact where it counts most.
In FY2024-25, the company said its water conservation projects generated over 630 million litres of water recharge potential across 28 villages in eight states. Over 20,000 people benefited from these initiatives, too.
According to a spokesperson, the organization keeps working on water stewardship, renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, circularity, and improving rural livelihoods.
For the record, 98% of the energy needs at their distilleries are covered by renewables like biomass. Every production site and office runs on green electricity, thanks to their RE100 commitment.
Plus, Pernod Ricard India cut water consumption intensity by 24% since FY2018, beating their own FY2030 goal.
They also got permanent mono-cartons off certain product lines, slashing more than 8,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly and cutting back on paper packaging materials.
