SDI AOP Unveils Solution To Assess Sustainability Outcomes Of Investments

Sustainable Development Investments Asset Owner Platform (SDI AOP), a sustainability data platform led by asset owners, has launched SDI Outcomes, a new tool that enables investors to evaluate the real-world sustainability impact of companies and portfolios through consistent and comparable data.
Founded in 2020 by pension asset managers APG, AustralianSuper, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI), and PGGM, SDI AOP helps investors assess corporate contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a global framework aimed at addressing issues such as poverty, hunger, education, and environmental protection.
SDI Outcomes analyzes company outputs to quantify sustainability contributions beyond revenue alignment data. It includes metrics like “avoided carbon emissions” from renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable transport, as well as “people served” in areas like clean water, education, healthcare, telecom, and financial inclusion—covering over 1,600 listed companies worldwide.
Designed to enhance transparency and support better investment decisions, the solution also addresses greenwashing concerns, helping asset owners and managers track portfolio sustainability performance and align with net zero and SDG targets.
James Leaton, Research Director at SDI AOP, stated: "SDI Outcomes was developed in response to client demand for granular outputs data to combat greenwashing. Companies use varying methodologies, making comparisons difficult. Our approach standardizes and validates the data to provide consistent and reliable insights."
