Seven Solar Projects Totaling 72 MW to Be Allotted in Himachal, Says CM Sukhu

Himachal Pradesh to be first 'Green Energy State' by 2026 in the Country The state of Himachal Pradesh is very well equipped for the country to become the first fully powered with green energy state by 2026. The state government is focusing its entire efforts on focusing on solar power projects, renewable resources, and new age energy solutions to build up for achieving the ambitious target. Under this scheme, the Himachal Pradesh government will tender the development of seven solar power projects aggregating to 72 MW. According to the official source, this would be allocated by the end of this month. It has also already undertaken the surveys of the remaining eight projects aggregating to 325 MW. The state government also proposes to establish 200 panchayats as "green panchayats." Ground-mounted solar plants of up to 200 kW capacity shall be provided for the rural village. These would generate revenues, which could be utilized for developmental work in rural pockets. This is a giant leap toward energy empowerment in villages and also well dovetailed with the vision of green energy by the state. Mega projects for Himachal Pradesh are part of this move towards green energy, along with installation of rooftop solar panels and water heating systems for institutions such as children's homes, old-age homes, and Rajiv Gandhi model day-boarding schools, which will improve the state's energy efficiency while providing clean and sustainable energy to institutions.
