Sustainability Experience Centre Launched at DPS Bengaluru North

1M1B (One Million for One Billion), an UN-accredited not-for-profit organisation, in collaboration with IBM Skills Build, has set up a Sustainability Experience Centre at Delhi Public School Bengaluru North. The initiative focuses on building sustainability awareness, climate literacy and practical skills among students.

The Centre was inaugurated by Priti Kadam, Program Manager, Chief Sustainability Office, and Manju Balasubramanyam, Principal of DPS Bangalore North. The facility has been designed as a hands-on learning space aimed at helping students engage with environmental issues through interactive and activity-based modules. It combines sustainability concepts, climate action themes and technology-based learning tools to encourage students to examine every day environmental impacts and explore possible solutions.

The Centre includes a Carbon Footprint Activity Board that helps students understand emissions linked to daily activities, a “Wall of Disintegration” that displays the decomposition time of common materials, and “Track Your Watts,” which allows students to study household electricity consumption patterns. It also provides space for students to work on sustainability-related projects.

According to school authorities, the Centre aims to complement classroom learning by introducing practical exposure to environmental topics. Representatives from 1M1B stated that the initiative seeks to connect sustainability education with technology and real-world problem solving.

The facility will also host workshops, sessions involving IBM professionals, student-led activities and community engagement programmes. It is expected to support student projects related to environmental themes.

The initiative is aligned with broader climate action and sustainable development frameworks. IBM Skills Build, which supports the programme, is a global learning platform offering courses in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data, sustainability and workplace readiness.
