Uttar Pradesh is accelerating electric bus deployment, EV charging infrastructure and expressway projects ahead of the upcoming operations at Jewar International Airport.

UP Plans Electric Bus Network Ahead of Jewar Airport Launch

The Uttar Pradesh government is getting ready to improve the infrastructure of transportation and hasten the process of implementing other projects before the inauguration of flight operations at the Noida International Airport in Jewar.

This was discussed in a recent meeting held for the State Transformation Commission headed by Chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

The meeting was informed that 110 electric buses will be introduced in the initial stage to enhance connectivity to the upcoming airport. Additionally, the government is planning to introduce about 500 electric buses for the region including Noida, Greater Noida and YEIDA prior to the commencement of flights.

The meeting also discussed the issue of development of electric vehicle facilities in the state. As per reports of officials, over 15 lakhs electric vehicles are registered in the state while around 2,500 EV charging facilities have been made operational till date in the state. The objective of the state is to develop around 10,000 charging stations by the year 2030.

In addition to transport development, the government considered how far certain expressways had come under construction. They include Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway, Jhansi Link Expressway, and Farrukhabad Link Expressway. Land acquisition work has been increased in order to prevent any delays in the construction process.

The meeting also included discussion of the Meerut-Haridwar Expressway project where it is stated that alignment has been cleared, and land acquisition work has already started.

Several industrial and logistics projects were reviewed as part of the broader infrastructure push. Officials provided updates on the proposed Multi Modal Logistic Hub, Multi Modal Transport Hub, Seed Park, Textile Park and Defence Corridor projects planned across different regions of the state.

According to officials, the proposed Agri Export Hub near Jewar Airport and the Aqua Bridge project in Unnao are also being developed to support agriculture, fisheries processing and export-related activities.

The meeting additionally reviewed the progress of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and the Chief Minister Yuva Udyami Yojana, with discussions focused on recruitment, rural implementation and employment generation initiatives.

Authorities were also directed to improve monitoring of projects under the ‘CM Samiksha’ system through a dedicated review mechanism to ensure faster implementation and coordination among departments.
