A New Chapter For Farmers: Kisani Urjaa Brings Health & Hope To Andhra Pradesh’s Fields
Gruner Foundation-led CSR drive champions rural healthcare, women empowerment, and green farming practices
In the sun-drenched farmlands of Vijayawada and Rajahmundry, something remarkable unfolded this weekend — something that went beyond crops and harvests. It was about health, hope, and a fresh start for over a thousand farmers who form the lifeblood of India's agricultural heart.
Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd. (KUPL), the Agritech arm of Gruner Renewable Energy, in partnership with the Gruner Foundation, rolled out a heartfelt two-day CSR initiative that combined free health camps and sustainability workshops — a first of its kind in many of these villages.
As farmers lined up for their first ever health checkups, there was a quiet excitement in the air. For many, especially the women farmers, it was the first time they had easy access to doctors, pediatricians, gynecologists, and nutritionists — all right at their doorstep. From blood sugar and blood pressure screenings to eye examinations and personalized counseling, the camps addressed health concerns that often go unnoticed under the demanding sun and in the silent struggles of rural life.
Tangirala Sowmya, MLA from Vijayawada (Nandigama), and Muppidi Venkateswara Rao Garu, MLA from Rajahmundry (Kovvuru), lent their strong support to the initiative, alongside senior district officials and local panchayat leaders.
"India’s farmers are the backbone of our economy, yet many continue to work without basic health protections or awareness about sustainable practices," said Utkarsh Gupta, Founder & CEO of Gruner Group. “With Kisani Urjaa, we’re nurturing well-being, resilience, and opportunity for those who feed our nation.”
But the effort didn’t stop at healthcare. Farmers gathered around demonstrations of modern, eco-friendly farming practices — learning how to turn leftover crop stubble into valuable bio-based products instead of burning it, which harms both soil and air. Many farmers, curious and eager, asked how they could partner with Kisani Urjaa to bring these solutions to their own fields.
Special attention was given to women farmers through the Kisani Didi initiative, which opened up conversations about leadership, entrepreneurship, and building stronger roles for women in agriculture. Their enthusiasm was clear — and their determination, unstoppable.
Adding a digital touch, farmers were introduced to the Kisani Mobile App, a tool designed to bridge rural communities with modern agricultural services — from listing feedstock for pickup to getting real-time crop advice and exploring new markets.
This project comes at a crucial time, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for holistic farmer welfare and preventive healthcare in rural India. Backed by the government’s growing investment in agriculture and farmer health, initiatives like Kisani Urjaa’s are lighting a new path forward — one where farmers are healthier, farming is greener, and prosperity is truly shared.
Inspired by the overwhelming response in Andhra Pradesh, Kisani Urjaa now plans to roll out 20+ similar programs across India’s agricultural belt in the coming year — proving that real change begins in the fields, one farmer, one family, and one village at a time.
