Adani Foundation Trains Rural Youth for Police Careers

ACC, the cement and building materials company part of the Adani Portfolio, through the Pre-Police Training Programme run in collaboration with the Adani Foundation, has been equipping aspiring candidates with careers in defence and law enforcement at its facility in Bargarh, Odisha, benefitting rural youth.

Effect on Rural Youth

One of the programme's beneficiaries, Chandan Pradhan from Malisrigudi, Sonepur district, successfully secured a position in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). His achievement highlights the effectiveness of the training programme in preparing candidates for competitive recruitment exams.

It has nearly 1,000 aspirants across 13 locations. The training begins with an initial screening to check the physical eligibility of the aspirants, followed by a structured curriculum that includes theoretical preparation for selection examinations. Candidates also undergo physical conditioning, mock interviews, and mentoring sessions designed to enhance their performance in recruitment processes.

Training Structure and Curriculum

The Pre-Police Training Programme is an integrated approach for the preparation of candidates for careers in law enforcement and defence. This training includes the following processes:

Screening Tests: Candidates are screened on their physical fitness requirements according to different defence and law enforcement agencies.

Theoretical Education: A syllabus that will be helpful in the recruitment exam is provided to the candidates.

Physical Conditioning: Systematic sessions of physical training improve endurance, agility, and strength.

Mock Interviews and Mentoring: Candidates are taught interview skills and career guidance.

Success Story of Chandan Pradhan

Chandan Pradhan's success story is a great example of the programme. Chandan Pradhan hails from a rural background and has joined the ITBP. He had undergone intensive training, including theoretical learning, physical conditioning, and interview preparation. His efforts helped him to be selected for this prestigious organization. He has been inducted into the ITBP on 14 December 2024.

Structured training and career guidance by ACC with the Adani Foundation have helped solve problems related to employment in rural Odisha. It equips the candidates with the right knowledge and skills to compete in recruitment exams and get into jobs in defense and law enforcement agencies.

The model might be duplicated to other such employment gap-bridging initiatives aimed at developing readiness in workforce development in various parts of the country.
