Amani Project Engages 435 Children Through Music-Based Learning Initiative

The Amani Project, a musical learning programme by Smile Foundation in collaboration with Children in Harmony, has helped 435 kids and teenagers to date after its launch in 2018 across Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

Presently, the programme is being run across 10 centres and includes children in the age group of 6-18 years old. Through the means of musical classes, group activities and interactive sessions, the children are inspired to express themselves and cooperate with each other.

As the name suggests, 'Amani' is the term for peace, the project aims at engaging the children in various activities through music that promote the emotional and social development of the kids. The programme helps the kids to feel more comfortable about expressing their thoughts, cooperating in teams and interacting with others according to the organisations.

According to Santanu Mishra, Co-Founder of Smile Foundation, children gain a lot when they get the opportunity to learn things in different environments apart from classrooms.

Children in Harmony, which is a non-profit organisation involved in teaching music lessons, has been associated with the program since its inception. The organisation is working in collaboration with community organisations in several countries in programs where music lessons are used as part of the curriculum for learning.

One of the education-related programs is the Amani Project, which is being run under the guidance of the Smile Foundation organisation. This organisation is involved in programs related to education, health care, livelihoods and women's development in various parts of the country.

The program has come at a time when the focus of schools and communities has shifted towards paying attention to the mental well-being of children along with their education. Programs involving activities like music, sports, and arts are being made part of the programs meant for the holistic development of children.

Children are being engaged in group activities involving music lessons in 10 centres where the project is operational.
