Andhra Pradesh Boosts E-Waste Handling with New Partnership
Swachha Andhra Corporation and Re Sustainability Reldan have signed an MoU to set up a dedicated E-waste collection and processing center in Vijayawada, aiming to build a sustainable electronic waste management ecosystem across Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the overall push towards ecologic sustainability, Swachha Andhra Corporation (SAC) has collaborated with Re Sustainability Reldan Refining Private Limited (ReSRRPL) with a view to upgrading E-waste collection and recycling facilities in the state of Andhra Pradesh. An MoU was signed between the two entities as part of which an orderly and scientific procedure will be implemented towards electronic waste management initially at Vijayawada, with further expansion in the state.
The agreement was signed legally on 8th May 2025 at New Delhi. SAC, a Government of Andhra Pradesh agency functioning under the Municipal Administration & Urban Development Department, is spearheading the state's transition to green waste management solutions. ReSRRPL, Re Sustainability and US-based Reldan's initiative, has its green E-waste processing capabilities to share with the partnership.
As part of the deal, SAC will extend core infrastructure support to the project in the form of a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse complex exclusively for use for E-waste activities at Vijayawada. The group will also arrange coordination with the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) and engage Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in collection drives for E-waste, thus enabling ground-level participation.
ReSRRPL will, in turn, utilize top-level technical know-how and adopt the highest standard of recycling principles to recycle electronic waste safely and effectively. Their technologies target the recovery of valuable resources with little impact on the environment. Collection and processing operations will be made to adhere to national environmental standards.
The scheme is suggested to be rolled out in phases to different districts of Andhra Pradesh. Government and municipality across the state will play a role in outreach programs of collection of E-waste via formal and systematic channels. This is suggested for enabling statewide deployment of responsible waste disposal practices and awareness at institutional and citizen levels.
The MoU was signed by the most influential Swachh Andhra Corporation leaders, viz. Shri Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram (Chairman), Dr. P. Sampath Kumar, I.A.S. (Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration), and Shri B. Anil Kumar Reddy, I.A.S. (Managing Director). District Commissioners across Andhra Pradesh were also part of the ceremony, indicating keen administrative backing to the mission.
Through this partnership, the government of Andhra Pradesh is aiming to create an end-to-end E-waste management ecosystem that would be in mutual interest for environmental and social considerations. It is also in accordance with India's broader vision of shifting towards a circular economy by minimizing dependency on virgin materials and maximizing reuse through effective recycling technology.
SAC-ReSRRPL MoU is a groundbreaking public-private initiative to handle one of the quickest-growing waste streams—electronic waste. Where infrastructure, policy enablement, and cutting-edge recovery technologies meet, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become an environmental model across the country in E-waste management. By going district by district, it has the promise of delivering long-term environmental and economic dividends to the local ecosystem and communities alike.
