Mumbai, 17 March 2025: Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of India’s leading city gas distribution (CGD) companies, actively participated in the 13th edition of the Oil, Gas & Power World Expo 2025 in Mumbai. The international energy tradeshow brought together industry leaders to discuss advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the energy sector.
During the event, MGL’s Managing Director, Ashu Shinghal, took part in a panel discussion on "City Gas Distribution: Growth Challenges & Pitfalls." The discussion focused on investment opportunities, innovations in the natural gas sector, and challenges such as high reinstatement charges and infrastructure development in rural areas. Expanding City Gas Distribution Network
MGL has been a key player in the city gas distribution space for nearly three decades. It is the sole authorized distributor of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Mumbai and surrounding regions, including the Raigad district in Maharashtra. The company currently supplies CNG to over 10.5 lakh vehicles, including rickshaws, taxis, private cars, and buses operated by BEST, TMT, MSRTC, and NMMT.
With a vast distribution network comprising steel and MDPE pipelines, MGL ensures a stable supply of natural gas to households, commercial establishments, and industries. The company has also expanded its network of CNG filling stations, which now stands at 352 stations with over 2,180 dispensing points.
