Aster DM Healthcare Inaugurates 8.5 MW Solar Park In Kasargod
The park currently caters to the energy requirements of Aster’s Calicut and Kannur hospitals
Aster DM Healthcare on Tuesday announced that it had commissioned an 8.5 MW solar park in Kasargod, Kerala with an investment oof Rs 11.89 crore and it is projected to benefit the group by four crores annually. Currently, the 8.5 MW solar park caters to the requirements of Aster’s Calicut and Kannur units.
Spread across 27.2 acres, the park was developed in partnership with U-Solar Clean Energy Solutions, a solar energy developer and EPC company. Executed over 18 months, the single-phase facility uses advanced mono PERC technology and is expected to generate about 14.03 million units (kWh) of clean energy annually. It is projected to offset nearly 11,590 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year, significantly reducing the environmental impact of Aster’s operations.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare, said, “This solar park reflects our commitment of integrating clean energy into our infrastructure, ensuring energy security, long-term cost efficiency, and a reduced carbon impact. It is a step forward in aligning our values with global sustainability goals and setting a benchmark for green practices in the healthcare sector.”
K. R. Harinarayan, CEO of U-Solar, said, “The successful commissioning of the 8.5 MW group captive solar project for Aster DM Healthcare marks a major step in advancing clean energy in the healthcare sector. It supports our vision for a sustainable future while helping Aster DM reduce its carbon footprint and enhance energy resilience. We're especially proud to have delivered Kerala's first group captive solar project - setting a strong precedent for many more to follow and leading the way in the state's clean energy journey.”
The group plans to replicate this project across its other hospital locations, with upcoming projects in its Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra clusters amounting to approximately 36 MW, including the current project. Through these initiatives, Aster aims to build a more resilient and energy-efficient healthcare infrastructure that benefits both patients and the planet.
