BGR Tech Launches Hydrogen Purification System to Advance Clean Energy in India

India's Chennai, February 12, 2025: A 100 kW hydrogen purification system was introduced by Chennai-based energy engineering firm BGR Tech Ltd. with the goal of improving electrolysis-based hydrogen purification. Bhupender Bhalla, a former secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), introduced the concept, emphasising India's emphasis on sustainable energy technologies.
Operating at high pressure up to 30 bar, the sophisticated purification system produces 99.999% pure hydrogen that is suitable for fuel cells. Its scalable and modular architecture enables customisation for a range of industrial uses, such as steel annealing, combustion engines, and fuel cells. For enterprises embracing hydrogen energy, the plug-and-play capability makes production and on-site commissioning easier without requiring considerable fabrication.
Utilising both internal knowledge and partnerships with world experts in electrolyser and process technologies, BGR Tech Ltd. focusses on designing and producing process equipment. The company wants to help India achieve its decarbonisation objectives and increase the efficiency of hydrogen production. Its emphasis on utilising locally produced parts is in line with India's goal of creating an independent green hydrogen market.
India wants to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030, and BGR Tech's hydrogen purification technology helps the nation make the switch to sustainable energy. The company's overarching goal is to diversify its clean energy portfolio by entering the biogas, methanol, and green ammonia markets.
