Delhi-NCR AQI Crosses 400, Hits Dangerous Levels
Air quality across Delhi-NCR has plunged into hazardous zones, with most areas recording AQI between 300–500.
Delhi’s pollution level is still extremely polluted and in several places the level of AQI is in the severe category, which is above 400 considered to be dangerous for health. The rising pollution has once again become a topic, and people are worried about their health because of air quality getting worse and even after several steps being taken by government, no improvement has been seen so far and improvement in the AQI.
Delhi may soon move to GRAP Stage 4 because of AQI has reached to very dangerous levels. If this happens, very strict rules will start. Right now, GRAP-3 is imposed in Delhi NCR.
Delhi-NCR’s air quality has become very polluted, and the situation is getting worse day by day. The 39 places that measures air quality, 38 are showing red alert with the AQI is between 300 to 500, which means the air quality is extremely toxic.
In the capital city, because of the increasing pollution people are facing several health-related problems such as eye irritation, difficulty in breathing, and throat discomfort. Mainly elderly people and children are being affected the most due to this severe condition of air in the city.
Today early morning, the AQI levels in many parts of Delhi was highly toxic. The AQI was 416 in Anand Vihar, 384 in Alipur, 431 in Ashok Vihar, 444 in Bawana, 391 in Burari, 437 in Chandni Chowk, 384 in Dwarka Sector-8, 378 at ITO, 442 in Jahangirpuri, 345 at Lodhi Road, 405 in Mundka, 366 in Najafgarh, 423 in Narela, and 412 in Nehru Nagar. Similarly, in other areas also showed dangerous level of AQI. Patparganj recorded an AQI of 393, RK Puram 404, Rohini 426, Sonia Vihar 408, Vivek Vihar 436, and Wazirpur 447.
The pollution situation in the NCR region is also nearly severe, just like Delhi. Noida’s overall AQI is 412, Greater Noida’s AQI is 450, Ghaziabad’s AQI is 436, and Gurugram’s AQI is 289.
