Delhi-NCR is expected to witness hot and humid weather with isolated light rain and gusty winds this week, while heavy rainfall continues across several other parts of India.

Delhi to Remain Hot and Humid, Light Rain Likely This Week: IMD

Delhi-NCR is expected to experience hot and humid weather conditions, with isolated showers in the next few days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Although there may be some cloud cover, no rain has been forecasted to hit the national capital this week.

According to IMD, partly to generally cloudy skies, along with isolated light rain/thundershowers, will occur in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. The maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 36°C-38°C and the minimum temperatures in the range of 26°C-28°C. High humidity is expected to make the weather feel uncomfortably humid despite the lack of fluctuations in temperature.

High wind speeds of 20-30 kmph, which may rise to 40 kmph in the afternoons, are expected to blow across the region. The winds are expected to provide some respite from the humid weather, but their presence without any rain in the city will result in some pollution as well.

The current weather situation prevailing in Delhi does not hold good for many other states where the monsoon activity is still going on. As per the reports from IMD, heavy rains have been predicted in the states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and other eastern states of India. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Chhattisgarh and the Konkan region, with local flooding chances.

On the other hand, below-normal rainfall is likely to prevail in northwest states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, which is similar to Delhi, where the rainfall is sporadic in nature.

The present situation is expected to prevail throughout the week. The temperatures might hover around 39 degrees Celsius by mid-week, while the humidity levels will be quite high. While sporadic showers might give some respite to people during the day, they are not expected to have an effect on lowering temperatures or weather.

Citizens can look forward to partly cloudy skies, warm days, and breezy evenings for the coming days as the monsoon progresses slowly towards the north of India.
