Delhivery partners with Bajaj Auto to integrate electric three-wheelers into its delivery fleet, aiming to reduce emissions and promote sustainable last-mile logistics.
Industry sources revealed that leading logistics company Delhivery has signed a strategic partnership with Bajaj Auto to fast-track EV adoption in its delivery fleet.
The partnership is expected to further expand Delhivery's electric vehicle fleet, as the company will now include Bajaj Auto's three-wheelers in its delivery services in select urban markets, thereby reducing carbon emissions in the last-mile delivery sector across urban areas. The agreement is part of Delhivery's overall sustainability strategy, which focuses on creating more sustainable logistics infrastructure and improving business efficiency.
The partnership will enable Bajaj Auto to provide the company with a combination of passenger and load-carrying electric three-wheelers, depending on Delhivery's needs, company executives said. The vehicles will be used in high-traffic zones where short-haul deliveries make up a significant percentage of overall deliveries, minimising the need for fossil fuel-based transportation.
Delhivery representatives spoke about the partnership, noting how the use of electrification in the company's business is helping achieve environmental and business goals. A company spokesperson stated that making the switch to EVs is central to its drive towards reducing emissions and improving air quality in cities where it operates, and EV integration can also help reduce operating costs over the long term.
According to industry analysts, logistics companies around the world are increasingly integrating electric mobility into their corporate climate programmes, as governments put pressure on them to adopt cleaner solutions amid rising fuel prices and increasing consumer expectations for "green" services. As e-commerce expands rapidly in India, the transition has picked up speed, driven by the need for sustainable and scalable delivery options.
The collaboration is seen as a key step towards achieving the vision of Indian electric vehicle major Bajaj Auto to promote EV adoption in commercial fleets and support a cleaner urban transport ecosystem. The partnership will also involve both companies identifying further electrification projects, such as providing charging infrastructure support and optimising their fleets through data analysis.
Delhivery’s electric mobility initiative coincides with the industry's efforts to make EV adoption more cost-effective in the logistics sector, which is expected to play a significant role in reducing urban transport pollution while improving service reliability and cost efficiencies.
