Dignitaries from India and Global Organizations to Attend International Women's Day Celebrations

President Droupadi Murmu to Host National Women's Day Celebrations

New Delhi, 6th March 2025: International Women's Day will be celebrated by the Government of India on 8th March 2025 through a ministry-level conference at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD). "Nari Shakti Se Viksit Bharat" (Empowered Women for a Developed India) will be the theme for this year's celebration. The ceremony will be presided over by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and will have the presence of some other dignitaries, i.e., Smt. Annpurna Devi, Women and Child Development Minister, and Smt. Savitri Thakur, Minister of State for Women and Child Development.

The conference will be addressed by a broad cross-section of guests such as women officers serving in the armed forces, paramilitary forces, Delhi police, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, self-help group members, and My Bharat campaign volunteers. In addition to this, senior government officials representing different ministries and important foreign dignitaries such as delegates from the World Bank, UNICEF, UN Women, UNDP, and UNFPA will also be present.

High-Level Panel Session and Technical Sessions

The latter half of the day after the opening session will be utilized in the high-level panel session. It will feature panel members made up of leaders from industries who discuss women's contribution and leadership across a spectrum of professions.

Apart from that, there will be three technical sessions for specific sectors where women have made tremendous leaps and these are convening awesome women leaders in STEM, business, sports, media, and government in trying to learn from their experiences so that more are included in such fields.

Trailblazers and Luminaries: Looking Back and Building Ahead on International Women's Day's 50th Anniversary: The session will look back at women leaders' journey and how women have helped India achieve success and give pearls of wisdom to the future generation.

Harnessing Women Power: Financial Inclusion Breakthroughs: The session will look at the role of women in financial inclusion and entrepreneurship and economic empowerment of women.

Women Leadership: Panchayat to Parliament: Workshop for unearthing policies and frameworks propelling gender equality with political leadership, focusing on women participation in direction toward the government and decision-making.

Digital Media and Interactive Zone

One of the most prominent aspects of the event would be launching a path-breaking Digital Media and Interactive Zone. There, the idea is to walk the participants through live chats, multimedia shows, and tales of how women were included in building an enlightened India. With such an interactive zone, participants will gain an insight into women's contribution towards all aspects of life through interactive digital screens and knowledge.

Livestream and Wider Reach

The conference will be live streamed on Doordarshan, among other web sites, including the social media of Ministry of Women and Child Development and World Bank Live social media sites. This would give added reach and public engagement with the main issues realized at the conference.

Government's Commitment towards Women's Empowerment

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, the Government of India is even more committed to empowering women through some change-making policies and programs. These are designed to put the position of women at the forefront of India's development and growth. The theme of the current year's event, "Nari Shakti Se Viksit Bharat," is a reflection of the government's intention to create an atmosphere in which women lead the process of nation-building towards a self-reliant and prosperous India.

As part of its various sessions, discussions, and activities, International Women's Day on 8th March 2025 will be a special day in acknowledging the role played by women towards the development of India.
