Fastmarkets launches carbon intelligence platform to help businesses manage carbon risks and comply with regulations.
As companies across the world are being increasingly pressured to decarbonize and meet increasingly tough climate regulation, Fastmarkets, a leading global commodity price reporting agency and market intelligence business, has launched a new full-service carbon intelligence offering. This new service aims to provide businesses with the vital tools and expertise required to monitor carbon risks, comply with regulation, and generate new revenue streams in new emerging carbon markets.
The launch is timely when sustainability is no longer considered a long-term aspiration but a present and urgent business imperative. With measures such as the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) gaining traction, businesses are increasingly being held to account to measure and minimize their carbon footprint along the supply chain. Fastmarkets' new service seeks to close the gap between regulatory complexity and actionable strategy by providing data-driven solutions that are customized to the changing landscape of carbon compliance.
Addressing the launch, Raju Daswani, CEO of Fastmarkets, highlighted the pressing nature and immediacy of carbon management in current business. "Decarbonization is not an aspiration for the future — it is a vital business imperative now. By combining robust pricing, comprehensive market and regulatory insights, we enable our customers to turn uncertainty into a competitive strength," stated Daswani.
At the heart of the platform are two separate products: Carbon Credits & Removals and CBAM Insights. The Carbon Credits & Removals product offers historical prices and long-term projections that go as far as 2050, allowing businesses to see market trends and plan ahead. It spans 11 various project types, including significant global frameworks like CORSIA Phase 1, ARR (Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation), IFM (Improved Forest Management), and REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation). The service also provides granular data for both nature-based and engineered carbon removal projects, providing companies with a full-spectrum view of the voluntary and compliance carbon markets.
In the meantime, the CBAM Insights aspect of the platform delivers early access to key analysis about the financial and operational effects of the EU's CBAM regulation. The facility assists companies to assess potential costs and supply chain disruptions caused by the staged implementation of CBAM. The full range of CBAM-related features, due out in August, will reportedly extend to more green commodity insights and greater support for decarbonization planning.
Stuart Evans, Chief Economist and Head of Environmental Markets at Fastmarkets, highlighted the value of cutting through the noise in a market crowded with fragmented data and inconsistent methodologies. “Our goal at Fastmarkets is simple – to cut through the market noise and deliver insights that genuinely help businesses stay competitive. With our rigorous methodologies and deep market expertise, we’re equipping companies to manage their carbon priorities with confidence,” Evans said.
The carbon intelligence platform also provides substantial opportunities for industries like agriculture and forestry to create new revenues through carbon credit projects. Such industries, who are important participants in carbon sequestration, can leverage the detailed analytics and price projections from Fastmarkets in order to understand and engage better in upcoming carbon markets. For industries such as metals and manufacturing, the service offers much-needed assistance for handling compliance expenditures and carbon offsetting strategies within mechanisms such as CBAM.
Fastmarkets' heritage in commodity markets, especially metals, forest products, and agriculture, provides it with a strategic edge in delivering high-resolution, sector-level analytics. The platform, launched from May 12, is designed with flexibility, including API-enabled integration, custom dashboards, and weekly reports that are personalized for the operational objectives of each user. These are meant to deliver real-time, actionable intelligence, allowing it to be simpler for businesses to adjust their sustainability plans to reflect market realities.
By providing a combination of price transparency, policy analysis, and forecasted data, Fastmarkets is making its carbon intelligence platform a must-have for industries managing the intricate landscape of carbon risk and compliance regulation. With climate policy and corporate accountability increasingly at the forefront of global business strategy, the platform comes as a timely and necessary tool.
