Haryana Approves ₹913 Crore Power Infrastructure Expansion

The Haryana government has approved power infrastructure projects worth around ₹913 crore to improve electricity distribution and strengthen the state's power network. The decision was taken during a meeting of the High-Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

The selected projects will be geared towards improving and adding capacity to the power generation infrastructure of Haryana in various places. Some of the projects include building new substations, strengthening the existing electricity infrastructure, increasing the capacity for transmitting and distributing electricity, and measures to reduce power losses.

According to officials, the project will be carried out by Haryana’s electric utility corporations including Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), and Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL). It is anticipated that these investments would help in meeting the increasing demand for electricity in the state.

A major objective of the expansion is to reduce technical losses in the power system and improve the quality of electricity supply. Upgraded substations and transmission facilities will help ensure more stable voltage levels, fewer outages and quicker restoration of power during disruptions. The projects are also expected to support the growing industrial and urban development taking place across the state.

This permission is being granted amid heavy investment by the state of Haryana in developing its energy infrastructure to ensure sustained economic growth. Haryana has been working towards developing the energy infrastructure of the state with the development of transmission and distribution networks, construction of new substations, and upgrades to current ones. The recent decisions made by the government include the development of 33 kV, 66 kV, and 220 kV substations.

According to authorities, upgrading the electrical grid is important to help meet the demands created by future industries and housing projects. The government of Haryana is coming up with plans for industrial growth that could attract foreign investors and create jobs, and this would need reliable electricity facilities.

These project will be carried out in stages during the next few months. Upon their completion, it is expected that they will make it easier to generate power and thus fulfill future electricity requirements.

This investment is part of a bigger picture in which Haryana aims at making the power sector more efficient and developing infrastructure that can facilitate economic development.
