Hinduja Foundation opens 2026 scholarships for Indian students in healthcare innovation studies at King’s.

Hinduja Foundation Launches 2026 Healthcare Scholarships

Mumbai, 22 May 2026: Hinduja Foundation has announced the launch of its 2026 scholarship program for students of Indian origin who want to pursue higher education in healthcare innovation at King’s College London. This initiative, in partnership with the UK university, will support students enrolling in the MSc MedTech Innovation & Entrepreneurship program and in doctoral research focused on healthcare technologies.

This announcement expands the ongoing academic collaboration between the Hinduja Foundation and King’s College London. The goal is to strengthen research, innovation, and healthcare education. The program focuses on healthcare innovation, MedTech entrepreneurship, medical technology, global healthcare education, and biomedical engineering. It reflects the growing interest in technology-driven healthcare solutions around the world.

Partnership Expands Healthcare Research Collaboration

The scholarship initiative follows a donation from the Hinduja Foundation UK to King’s College London in 2024 to establish the Hinduja King’s HealthPartners’ Academy. This collaboration promotes research and training in healthcare technologies through joint academic and clinical programs.

Under this partnership, full four-year PhD studentships were introduced at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at King’s College London. The program also includes support for the one-year MSc in MedTech Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Both institutions aim to improve healthcare in India and the United Kingdom through academic exchange, research collaboration, and professional training.

Additionally, the partnership has facilitated training programs for nurses, observerships, and online leadership courses provided by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust for healthcare professionals linked to P.D. Hinduja Hospital. This effort aims to enhance healthcare skills by exposing professionals to international clinical practices and leadership training.

Students Begin Academic Programs in London

The first group of scholars under this initiative started their academic programs at King’s College London in October 2025. According to the announcement, three PhD scholars and two MSc scholars joined the university during that academic session, with another PhD scholar starting studies in February 2026.

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 academic year, which begins in October 2026. The program will offer four PhD scholarships and five MSc scholarships for eligible students.

The PhD scholarships focus on healthcare technologies and research within biomedical engineering and imaging sciences. Applications for these doctoral positions will be accepted until 30 May 2026.

The MSc MedTech Innovation & Entrepreneurship scholarships are specifically for Indian citizens. The scholarship structure includes one award covering 80 percent of tuition fees and four scholarships covering 50 percent of tuition fees. Applications for the MSc scholarships will close on 19 June 2026.

Focus on Innovation-Led Healthcare Education

The scholarship program aims to provide students with chances to engage in innovation-led healthcare education through interdisciplinary learning and exposure to real clinical environments. Students selected for the program will have access to global academic expertise, healthcare research facilities, and collaborative learning experiences.

King’s College London is internationally recognized for its academic and research programs in healthcare, medicine, and biomedical sciences. The university stated that the collaboration seeks to support sustainable improvements in healthcare systems by encouraging innovation, research, and knowledge exchange across borders.

This initiative arises at a time when India’s healthcare sector is increasingly focused on medical technology, digital health systems, and research-led healthcare solutions. Experts in the field have emphasized the need to build skilled talent that can blend engineering, entrepreneurship, and healthcare delivery to address changing public health challenges.

Hinduja Foundation Highlights Long-Term Vision

Commenting on the initiative, Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of the Hinduja Foundation, noted that the partnership reflects the organization’s long-term goals for enhancing healthcare education and research tied to India.

He emphasized that investing in skilled talent is critical for creating resilient healthcare systems that meet global standards and support India’s development goals. The collaboration seeks to open pathways for Indian students to access international expertise while strengthening India’s capabilities in healthcare research and innovation.

He added that the long-term aim of the program is to increase India’s role in the global healthcare landscape through knowledge exchange, research partnerships, and advanced training opportunities.

This scholarship initiative is expected to further strengthen academic ties between Indian institutions and global universities in emerging healthcare technologies and innovation-driven medical research.
