Home Minister Amit Shah, CM Yogi Adityanath Lead Rituals at Akshayvat Amidst Mahakumbh Preparations

Mahakumbh Nagar, January 27:

Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday visited Mahakumbh Nagar to pay his obeisance at Akshayvat-a sacred tree. It was one among his series of visits to religious events being hosted as part of Mahakumbh, annual grand spiritual congregation that draws in millions every year.

On arrival, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally welcomed Home Minister Amit Shah. The visit started with the puja by the chief priest of Akshayvat as Vedic hymns echoed through the holy site. Both Shah and Yogi stood up to participate in the puja according to religious customs, after which they came closer for the Akshayvat Aarti, offering flowers as part of the various rituals.

After the religious rituals were performed, these two leaders, along with other people of the Sant Samaj, started 'parikrama', another sacred ritual as devotees will walk around this tree to convey respect and honour. Walking round Akshayvat, accompanied by the saints conducting prayers and slogans, Shah and Yogi were thoroughly charged with that much spirituality about them.

The major discussion that took place this visit is fine-tuning the arrangements of the Mahakumbh that will soon take place. Both leaders discussed the plan and arrangements of the proposed event with the Sant Samaj as it would begin shortly. Mahakumbh is a great event wherein millions of devotees attend the Kumbh Mela; thus, administration is conscious about their operations.

Amit Shah was accompanied by his wife, Sonal Shah; his son, Jai Shah; and his daughter-in-law, along with his granddaughters. The family participated in the rituals and celebrated the day with utmost devotion and respect. Later, the Shah family also clicked a group photograph in front of the sacred Akshayvat tree after performing the puja. The photograph was taken to commemorate the great visit and the family's participation in the religious ceremony.

The meeting concluded further talks by Home Minister, CM, and saint community on final steps before Mahakumbh. All the leaders provided assurance that event should be run without any inconvenience and the logistic and spiritual activities should be appropriately balanced.
