Mahakumbh 2025 Goes Green: Ganga Sevaks Pledge For Clean, Plastic-free Celebration On Republic Day

The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with a historic and inspiring program during Mahakumbh 2025. At the Namami Gange Pavilion, the event witnessed the hoisting of the national flag by Atharva Raj, Nodal Officer of Mahakumbh Namami Gange, in the presence of over 500 Ganga Sevaks. They collectively pledged to work for Ganga cleanliness. The celebration not only enhanced the glory of Republic Day but also served as a strong platform to spread awareness about Ganga’s cleanliness and conservation.

Message of Ganga Cleanliness through Street Play
The event began with an engaging and impactful street play at the Namami Gange exhibition site. The play highlighted the importance of keeping the Ganga free from plastic pollution and promoted the message of a plastic-free Kumbh. Through powerful dialogues and performances, it entertained and instilled a sense of responsibility and awareness about Ganga conservation among the audience.

Awareness Rally: A Collective Pledge for Ganga
Following the street play, a grand awareness rally was led by Ganga Sevaks and Namami Gange workers. The rally commenced from the Namami Gange exhibition site and culminated at Qila Ghat. Participants raised slogans for a clean Ganga and a green Kumbh. At the end of the rally, jute bags, T-shirts, and caps were distributed at Qila Ghat. During the rally, OSD Mahakumbh Akanksha Rana emphasized the importance of Ganga and the need for its conservation.

Call for a Plastic-Free Kumbh
Namami Gange workers distributed jute bags to pilgrims, urging them to avoid single-use plastics and polythene. The team ensured that the message of a plastic-free Kumbh reached the banks of the Ganga and Yamuna. Over 500 participants, including more than 400 Ganga Sevaks, took part in this campaign.

An Outstanding Example of Collective Effort
On Republic Day, Namami Gange, in collaboration with partner organizations, reaffirmed its commitment to Ganga cleanliness and uninterrupted flow. Representatives from organizations like the Ganga Task Force, Ganga Vichar Manch, Wildlife Institute of India, CIFRI, District Ganga Committee, SPMG, and NBAT united to pledge their support for keeping the Ganga and its ghats clean.

Republic Day: A Union of Cleanliness and Patriotism
The program organized on the 76th Republic Day during Mahakumbh 2025 sends a powerful message: Ganga cleanliness is not just a campaign but a sacred duty to protect our national pride and cultural heritage. This event is not only a significant step toward environmental conservation but also inspires citizens to realize that collective dedication can turn any dream into reality.
