SAEL Solar P6 has received a Letter of Award from NTPC Renewable Energy to supply high-efficiency TOPCon solar PV modules for the Chitrakoot-1 solar project in Uttar Pradesh.
SAEL Solar has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from NTPC Renewable Energy to supply TOPCon (TECNO Polished) Solar PV modules for the largest block of the Chitrakoot-1 solar PV project in Uttar Pradesh. Under the agreement, SAEL will manufacture and supply high-efficiency solar PV modules for the project.
This order follows India’s continued development of renewable energy and building up its capability in solar production. The use of modern solar technology such as tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules is becoming more prevalent due to their greater efficiency and effectiveness in larger scale solar projects.
SAEL Industries is a vertically integrated renewable energy company with operations across utility-scale solar projects, solar PV module manufacturing, and agri-waste-to-energy projects. The company has 8,299 MW of contracted and awarded direct current (DC) capacity across solar and storage segments, along with 3,625 MW of TOPCon solar module manufacturing capacity and 164.9 MW of agri-waste-to-energy capacity as of the end of September 2025.
Additionally, the company will set up another 5 GW solar cells and modules production plant in Jewar, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is believed that the plant would help in enhancing the existing solar manufacturing setup in India and help meet the rising demands for local solar products.
India has been focusing more on creating more capacity within the country for manufacturing solar cells to lower the reliance on foreign modules and establish a robust renewable energy supply chain. Incentives like the production linked incentive scheme for high efficiency solar PV modules have made investments into such manufacturing technologies more appealing.
The Chitrakoot-1 Solar PV Project is part of the broader category of infrastructural development projects that belong to the domain of renewable energy sources, and is located in Uttar Pradesh, where large-scale solar projects are being developed to support the country's clean energy targets.
With increasing demand for renewable energy as well as developments in solar technology, businesses in the field of solar manufacturing have been increasingly investing in their production capacities.
