Schneider Electric Wins DOE Awards for Energy Efficiency
Schneider Electric wins DOE awards for energy efficiency with innovative projects in Nebraska and North America.
Schneider Electric, a world leader in energy management and automation, has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its exceptional energy efficiency and sustainable practices. At the Better Buildings, Better Plants Summit in Washington, D.C., the company was awarded two highly coveted awards: the Better Project Recognition and the Better Practice Recognition. These recognitions acknowledge Schneider Electric's continued efforts to revolutionize its operations through innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
The Better Project Recognition was given to Schneider Electric for its HVAC Electrification Project at the manufacturer's plant in Lincoln, Nebraska. The long-standing facility has been in operation for more than half a century and was in need of serious modernization with the goal of enhancing energy efficiency. The HVAC project centered around the capture of wasted heat generated through operations and recycling it into the system, greatly minimizing the use of energy and aiding sustainability efforts. This effort not only made the infrastructure state-of-the-art but also illustrated how existing equipment can be integrated to serve higher energy standards via advanced technology.
The Better Practice Recognition Award, the second award, came for Schneider Electric's Building Automation System Playbook. This endeavor was created for standardizing and optimizing energy management practices companywide in North America. Through the use of its own solutions and technology, the playbook has made it easier to communicate between facilities, enhanced data analytics integration, and made it easier to deploy building management systems. Operationally, the end result has been considerably increased energy performance and operational efficiency. These actions are indicative of Schneider Electric's larger digital transformation and sustainability strategy, particularly in the way it manages and automates energy consumption in its facilities across the world.
In addition to the Department of Energy awards, Schneider Electric also registered a milestone among U.S. manufacturing awards. Its Fairfield, Ohio, plant was one of the first to receive both the Make it American Process Certification and the Build America, Buy America (BABA) certification as part of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association's (NEMA) Make It American program. These recognitions validate Schneider Electric's commitment to enhancing local manufacturing and local economic development. They also corroborate the corporation's support for U.S. federal programs that advance American-made goods and infrastructure investments.
The recent recognition of the company takes place at a time when there is growing investment in its operations in the U.S. Schneider Electric has committed to spending $700 million on growing and upgrading its facilities throughout the United States. This investment is designed to address growing demand in key industries including data centers, utilities, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure. In doing so, Schneider Electric is not only strengthening its foothold in the U.S. but also supporting national energy resilience and economic development.
Aside from its success in sustainability and energy management, Schneider Electric also continues to receive accolades for its workplace culture and social responsibility. The company was recently named one of Glassdoor's Best Places to Work in 2025, which speaks volumes about its dedication to employee satisfaction and career growth. Furthermore, it has been recognized as a Gold Military Friendly® employer for 2025, which recognizes its initiatives to assist veterans and active-duty military members in the workplace.
Schneider Electric's commitment to sustainability has also been honored globally. TIME magazine declared it the world's most sustainable company in 2024, and Corporate Knights ranked it the World's Most Sustainable Corporation in 2025. Schneider Electric is further the sole corporation to have topped the Corporate Knights' Global 100 ranking twice, which is indicative of its sustained leadership in corporate responsibility as well as sustainability.
Collectively, these awards and accolades show how Schneider Electric is setting an example in a world where sustainability, energy efficiency, and local manufacturing are emerging as key business imperatives. Through pioneering projects, strategic investments, and a deep focus on people and the planet, the company is building the future of energy and automation while reiterating its leadership as a trendsetter in sustainable industry practices.
