Delhi’s weather is showing a very unusual mood. Sometimes it’s rain and sometimes scorching sunshine. Tuesday was no different. While the morning began with blazing sunlight in several areas of the capital, the weather suddenly changed in the afternoon, bringing short but heavy showers in many places.

Rain Likely Today in Delhi

The rain did provide relief to people for a while, but shortly afterwards the hot and humid weather only rose further. Light rain is forecasted on Wednesday as well, though relief from humidity does not look forthcoming. Prior to the rain, the heat index had already passed 44 degrees, and even at 7:30 pm it was still above 40 degrees.

Temperature in the City

As reported by the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature was 35.2°C, one degree higher than usual, on Tuesday. The lowest temperature was 26.7°C, approximately 0.2 degrees above normal. Air humidity was between 61% and 89%.

The weather office reported light drizzle at Safdarjung. Palam witnessed 4.6 mm of rain, while light drizzle was observed at Lodi Road and Aya Nagar. Ridge received 3 mm, Pragati Maidan 13.1 mm, Pusa 1 mm, Mayur Vihar 8.5 mm, Najafgarh 1.5 mm, and Janakpuri 3 mm of rain. The heat index was 44.3°C at 11:30 am and even at 7:30 pm it was as high as 40.8°C.

Today, Delhi will experience partly cloudy weather with light rain possibilities during the afternoon or evening, as per the IMD. Maximum temperature could be around 33°C and minimum around 24°C. From August 21 to 25, the sky will continue to remain cloudy. Rainfall can marginally increase on August 22 and 23 and it will decrease again. Throughout this time, the highest temperature is also expected to remain between 31°C and 34°C, while the lowest can be between 21°C and 25°C.
