Strange Weather in Delhi-NCR

The weather in Delhi-NCR has been very unpredictable recently. There are times when the sky remains cloudy, and sometimes it's sunny. One day it rains too much, and the very next day it becomes hot and humid again.

At present, it is still raining in Delhi, although intermittently. The city has been seeing irregular showers over the last few days. Even this morning light to moderate rain was observed in various areas. The weather is nice, and the temperature has cooled slightly. The clouds are likely to persist the whole day, and more rain is expected later with high likelihood. The highest temperature for today will be around 33 degrees Celsius, and the lowest temperature can be around 24 degrees Celsius.

What Was the Weather Like on Sunday?

On Sunday, several areas in Delhi NCR experienced rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department, many places in the city has witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall from Saturday night till Sunday morning. Due to which problem of waterlogging is seen in areas like devil in South Delhi, Bagh, Panchkuian, ITO and Mukherjee Nagar. The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded around 34.3 degrees Celsius.  

Rainfall Data – Area-wise

Between 11:30 PM on Saturday evening and 2:30 AM on Sunday morning, the highest rainfall in Delhi was recorded in Mayur Vihar at 27 mm. Other areas also witnessed heavy rainfall—24.5 mm was recorded at Pusa, 22 mm at Najafgarh, 18.7 mm at Pragati Maidan, 14.2 mm at Palam, and 8.2 mm at Safdarjung. Light showers were, however, seen at areas like Lodhi Road, Ridge, and Aya Nagar.

Looking at the 24-hour period between August 1 morning and August 2 morning, Aya Nagar saw 11 mm of rain, Safdarjung 4.6 mm, and Lodhi Road 4.2 mm. The lowest temperature for Delhi in this period was recorded at 24.2°C, some 2.9°C lower than what it is in this season. While the humidity was 94% at 5:30 PM, the weather was very humid and sticky.
