The World Water Day Conclave 2026 will bring together stakeholders to discuss water management, sustainability and efficient use of water.
World Water Day is marked on the 22nd of March across the globe, with the aim of creating awareness among the people about the importance of water and the need to properly manage waste, especially in the face of a scarcity of water, climate change, and the availability of clean water.
In this direction, the Ministry of Jal Shakti is organizing the World Water Day Conclave 2026 on the 23rd of March at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, where the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C. R. Paatil, along with representatives from the government, industry, and other sectors, is likely to attend the conclave.
The conclave aims at bringing people from the government, industry, colleges, and other sectors, among others, to discuss the water problems and find solutions to it, so that the issue is addressed in a collaborative manner and the use of water is done in a more efficient and effective manner.
States and Union Territories have been asked to organize activities like rainwater harvesting, reusing water, and involving the local community in spreading awareness regarding the importance of saving water.
Various reports, including the 7th Minor Irrigation Census, 2nd Census of Water Bodies, 1st Census of Springs, and National Water Data Policy, are also scheduled for release as part of the event. The discussion topics at the conclave include sludge management, industrial water usage, and the use of data for planning, among others.
Additionally, during the conclave, the participants will also talk about importance of the industry in improving water efficiency by using methods like recycling, reusing water and adopting new technologies. There may also be a joint statement from industries about using water in a more sustainable way.
World Water Day was first proposed at the United Nations Conference in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, and since then the day has been celebrated every year.
