The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Tata Group decided to plant 500 trees in 2024 for each dot ball bowled during the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs in order to commemorate this. Now, each dot ball contributes directly to reforestation efforts.
Based on 294 dot balls, the BCCI stated that year that it had planted almost 1,47,000 trees in Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, and Assam. To validate these numbers, however, no official data has been made public.
