Delhi has approved land for a solar power substation and a new metro lift, helping expand clean energy infrastructure and improve public transport accessibility.

Delhi Clears Land for Solar Power Project and Metro Station Upgrade

Delhi has approved two important infrastructure projects aimed at improving both clean energy distribution and public transport accessibility in the capital. Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has cleared the transfer of land for a new lift at Rohini West Metro Station and approved land allocation for a solar power pooling substation in southwest Delhi.

The metro-related decision will enable the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to install a lift at Rohini West Metro Station, making travel easier for daily commuters, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and visitors to the nearby BSA Hospital. The project is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for thousands of passengers using the station every day.

As another step towards realizing Delhi’s clean energy goals, about nine bighas of land have been allocated for setting up a 66 KV/11 KV solar pooling sub-station in the village of Issapur. The sub-station will help incorporate large amounts of solar power into Delhi’s power grid system.

The need for the project has become greater because of the high demand for solar power connections in farmlands surrounding Issapur and Dhansa. Based on the reports of the concerned authorities, the present electrical facilities in the area are having difficulties accommodating the growing quantity of energy generated from the use of solar panels in the farms.

The importance of this project lies in the fact that an increase in grid infrastructure will enable greater use of renewable sources. Although solar energy produces clean energy, the infrastructure needed for distribution is vital in ensuring that this energy is supplied efficiently to residential homes and industries. This development will ease the burden on the grid and enable Delhi to move towards cleaner sources of energy.

This shows that there is an attempt to merge sustainable energy development with infrastructure developments. This involves making efforts to improve the accessibility of public transportation systems as well as sustainable energy systems, thereby ensuring that Delhi develops into a sustainable and inclusive city.
