Delhi Gears Up For Rainy Weather As Monsoon Advances Further
Rainy days are back in Delhi-NCR as the monsoon officially arrives, bringing cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and cooler temperatures throughout the week.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), expect rainfall in Delhi and neighbouring areas throughout the day. While a grey canopy hovered over the city this morning, which shows the much-awaited monsoon has arrived. The Southwest Monsoon has now advanced further in West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu, which marks an important step in India’s seasonal transition.
In Delhi, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the day with high level of humidity. There’s a high chance of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, which will bring some excitement to the boring day. Residents are advised to be ready for gusty winds with reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometre per hour, mostly during late afternoon and evening hours. Whereas no heatwave is reported, and the temperature will remain same for the day. The maximum temperature is forecasted between 33 to 35°C, which is 2 to 7 degrees below the seasonal normal, providing some relief from the early summer heat. The minimum temperature is forecasted was 29.6°C, a notch above normal. On the other hand, the level of humidity will remain high with maximum levels at 88%, likely to make you feel uncomfortable despite cooler air.
At all the main weather stations including Safdarjung, Palam, Lodhi Road, and Ayanagar, no rainfall was recorded until 8:30 AM, but very light rain was observed in some area like Najafgarh and Mungeshpur. Winds in the morning were mostly southeasterly, gradually shifting easterly through the day with increasing intensity.
The IMD has predicted a weather condition for the next six days which says that the rainfall will happen from June 26 to July 1, the skies are expected to remain cloudy with regular spells of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons and evenings. The maximum temperatures are expected to remain stable, in between 32 to 35°C, and no heatwaves are on the horizon.
As per the weather forecast for different area, all 11 districts of Delhi-NCR including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Shahdara are likely to experience rainfall with lightning and thunderstorms today and condition will be same for the next 4 days. It is clearly seen that gthe monsoon has truly arrived in the area. Sunrise occurred at 5:25 AM, and sunset is expected at 7:23 PM. The moonrise took place at 4:48 AM, giving a brief early-morning window for skywatchers. So, whether you’re heading out for work, school, or leisure—don’t forget your umbrella and maybe a pair of waterproof shoes. It’s a monsoon day in Delhi, after all.
