India’s Agriculture Sector Posts 3.7% Growth in Q1 2025–26

India’s husbandry sector recorded a 3.7% growth rate in the first quarter of 2025–26 — the highest globally — according to Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. This follows last year’s Q1 growth of 1.5% and is attributed to favourable programs, scientific advances, and coordinated central–state action.

Coordinated Push for Farmer Welfare

Chouhan launched the “One Nation, One Husbandry, One Platoon” initiative at a national rabi strategy conference. He called for strict action on spurious input sales and stressed the importance of robust crop insurance, citing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’s role in protecting farmers against unpredictable weather.

Rabi Planning and Viksit Bharat Agenda

Policy priorities include re-running the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” in October and redirecting research towards practical farmer challenges. State-level extension networks and Krishi Vigyan Kendras have been tasked with anchoring field-level execution and crop management.
