Delhi residents are likely to experience a major change in weather conditions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across the national capital region. The weather shift is expected to bring temporary relief from the intense summer heat, with temperatures likely to remain lower than recent peak levels.

There were signs of change even on Thursday evening with thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds occurring in different parts of Delhi-NCR. The skies were filled with dark clouds and weather activity provided some respite from the otherwise scorching heat prevalent through the day.

According to the latest prediction, the city of Delhi is likely to experience overcast weather conditions as well as occasional rain showers associated with thunder. It is predicted that there will be an increase in wind speed during storms, possibly even up to 60 kmph or more.

The IMD has suggested that people exercise caution as there might be changes in weather, lightning, and winds which may have an impact on their daily activities. This is because of the fact that certain areas in northwestern India are still witnessing frequent lightning storms.

The temperatures are expected to stay around 37–39°C, this is considered still hot but it will provide some respite from the excessively hot conditions experienced earlier in the month. However, humidity and light rain might affect outdoor activities as well as transportation on the roads.

What has been noticed is that such weather conditions have become frequent in the transitional months due to changes in the climate. Even though rains may provide a brief respite from the heat, it is essential to be prepared for any storm or strong winds.

People of Delhi have been advised not to stand close to trees, electrical poles, and other temporary structures during thunderstorm conditions. Additionally, commuters are also requested to check weather reports before heading out, particularly during times when there are heavy rainfall and wind.
