ClimeCo joins The Climate Pledge, committing to net-zero emissions by 2040 across its entire value chain, while aligning its internal goals with its external climate certification services for clients.
ClimeCo Joins The Climate Pledge, Commits to Net-Zero by 2040
Environmental consultancy ClimeCo has formally joined The Climate Pledge, committing to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The company aligns with the coalition co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism, reinforcing its internal operations and external advisory services with a unified, science-based climate strategy. This move highlights a growing trend in which sustainability service providers are also committing to rigorous decarbonisation of their own operations.
Net-zero ambition, carbon neutralisation, and Scope 3 emissions are now central to corporate climate action. As a specialist in decarbonisation solutions, ClimeCo’s pledge strengthens the credibility of its Climate Pledge Friendly certification work with major retailers.
A Science-Based 2040 Roadmap for All Emissions
ClimeCo’s commitment under The Climate Pledge is comprehensive, covering its direct operational emissions (Scope 1), purchased energy (Scope 2), and the often complex and significant value-chain emissions (Scope 3). According to a report on the development, the company’s plan involves regular measurement of its greenhouse gas footprint and the implementation of decarbonisation strategies aligned with the latest climate science.
For emissions that cannot yet be eliminated, the company plans to neutralise them using what it describes as “quantifiable offsets” that are real, permanent, and socially beneficial. This end-to-end approach is designed to ensure that ClimeCo’s internal practices align with the advisory and market-based solutions it provides to its global client base.
Aligning Advisory Work with Internal Action
ClimeCo’s decision to join The Climate Pledge strategically links its corporate commitments with its core business operations. The company is already an approved certifier for Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) programme, which helps consumers identify more sustainable products. Through its own ClimeCo Certified Product™ Programme, it enables other brands to earn the CPF label.
By committing to the same pledge it helps others pursue, ClimeCo aims to lead by example. Company leadership stated that this step reflects a belief in “market-driven collaboration” to accelerate the global transition. This positions the firm not just as an advisor, but as an active participant in the same journey it designs for its clients.
A Broader Signal for the Sustainability Sector
ClimeCo’s move represents a significant signal within the environmental services industry. It reflects a growing expectation that companies advising on sustainability must also demonstrate tangible, ambitious, and accountable action within their own organisations. The 2040 target, set a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement’s 2050 goal, establishes a demanding benchmark.
As a member of The Climate Pledge, ClimeCo joins an expanding coalition of companies signalling that accelerated climate action is both a commercial and planetary imperative. Its integrated approach—combining internal net-zero targets with external certification services—offers a model for how consultancies can build credibility and drive broader market transformation through aligned action.
