Vedanta Power Reports Zero Fatalities Across Plants in FY2026

During the National Safety Month on 4th March 2026 through till 31st March 2026, Vedanta Power announced that throughout the FY2026, the company had experienced no deaths as a result of accidents at any of its plants. This accomplishment demonstrates the continuing implementation of multiple initiatives by Vedanta Power to enhance safety, and ensures a safe workplace for employees who are performing tasks within the company’s thermal power facilities.

At its major thermal power facilities including Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) located in Punjab, Meenakshi Energy Limited (MEL) in Andhra Pradesh and Vedanta Limited’s Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant (VLCTPP) in Chhattisgarh, Vedanta Power continues to integrate health and safety practices into all aspects of plant operations and by engaging with their employees in developing, implementing, and executing the various health and safety plans and procedures.

Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO-Power at Vedanta, said "Safety is a priority. Our responsibility is to ensure that every individual return home safely. Achieving zero fatalities in FY26 reflects the focus on safety-first practices across operations."

On the other hand, there are various forms of safety precautions such as comprehensive permit protocols for hazardous work activities, safe work procedures that are regularly reviewed to ensure their effectiveness, as well as ongoing monitoring of operations in order to identify and eliminate any potential hazards.

In addition to regular safety briefings and training programs for employees and contractors, there is also a focus on managing high risk work through the use of Critical Risk Management (CRM) strategies. Daily shop-floor visits, Personal Safety Action Plans and the Night Duty Officer Programme are examples of how organisations monitor high risk work. There are also numerous training and development initiatives, including AR/VR based training, mental wellness initiatives, and implementing policies such as the "Right to Refuse Unsafe Work" and Stop Work Authority.

During national safety month, various activities were conducted that includes recognising safety champions, conducting safety quizzes, presenting awards to employees for their contributions to safety as well as holding health camps for employees and their families. Community Programmes that promote safety within the community include Suraksha Kutumb (Family Safety) and Kaun Banega Safety Champ? (Who Will Be the Champion of Safety?)

These measures are designed to strengthen a culture of safety, focusing on prevention, awareness, and continuous improvement to maintain a safe working environment across all power generation facilities.
